What Is Azure Information Protection
Azure Information Protection (AIP) is Microsoft’s cloud-based solution that works seamlessly with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and enables organisations to effectively secure, manage, and control sensitive data. AIP helps you classify and label data at the time of creation, as well as apply protection, based on encryption and usage rights.
AIP enable enterprises to have a greater end-to-end control over their data. In this context, Azure Information Protection plays an important role in securing company’s data.

How Azure Information Protect Works
When using Azure Information Protection within your organization, IT administrators have far greater control over the client device and over user identity management, and this builds the right platform of trust for sharing within the organization.
Azure Information Protect uses the AIP scanner service to automatically discover, label, and protect your content. This service will work with existing or new content on any Windows files that Windows itself can index. (If required, it can also be configured to remove that protection.)
The method of protection in Azure Information Protection is that access to protected content is based on authenticated identity. This means that with Azure Information Protection no authentication or authorization implies no access.
